An Epic certification can take your HIT career to a whole new level. But attaining your certification isn’t as easy as signing up for some classes and completing the program. How can your recruiter help you get on the path to earning Epic certification and expanding your career?
Your Employer Sponsors You
The key piece to the Epic certification process is finding an employer who will sponsor you through your certification process. You may be lucky enough to already work for an employer who is in the process of implementing Epic, in which case you can earn your certification as part of this process. But what if you’re not that lucky?
An HIT recruiter can help you find a job at a company that’s looking to implement Epic and guide you through the application process. Your other information technology skills will help you get your foot in the door. There are healthcare systems looking to implement Epic who are willing to hire and sponsor new HIT professionals to guide them through and manage the implementation process.
Travel to Wisconsin for Training
The Epic training process is in-depth and includes specific certifications based on which application you’re working with. No matter which one you’re going after, the process involves traveling to Epic’s headquarters in Wisconsin, where you’ll go through rigorous training and testing.
This travel can get expensive – which is another great reason why you should find an employer who will sponsor you. They’ll often cover the cost of the travel for you.
Finish an Epic Project
In addition to testing and travel, you’ll also need to finish a sample Epic project before you receive your certification. The project will be a mock build out in whichever module you’re training on. Complete the project and earn a passing score on your exam, and you’re in!
