"When one leaves work in tears, be they tears of joy or of sorrow, and comes back the next day for more of the same. It is wonderful and an honor to help a couple become a family, but as a labor nurse, it is the greatest of honors to get to know someone for their whole earthly existence, and to care for the bereaved family. It is the babies who don't cry, never take a breath, but likewise never know anything but love, never know envy, jealousy, hatred, or the ugliness this world can bring. Those are the ones who fuel my fire to be the very best nurse I can possibly be. Grieving is hard work. Grieving the loss of someone so precious? Never stops. I am so blessed to carry these babies in my mind and in my heart forever. I don't think my thirst for knowledge will be fulfilled. I learn something every day, and when I stop learning, or lose my compassion, it's time to hang up my stethoscope for good." #ILoveNursing

"There are a million reasons I could name for why I love nursing. Here's the one that underlines it all: I make a difference and help to change the world for one person, if even just for one day. I am able to share the love I have in my heart with countless people. I am able to be an advocate, educator, caretaker, and sometimes a hard butt for a person who needs it. I can make a child unafraid for their parent and comfort a parent as they are losing their child. I am able to continue my passion for learning. I meet amazing people every day and work with heroes regularly. I have impassioned someone to make life changes and had someone say they want to be a nurse like me. I have also had the pleasure of meeting and having amazing nurses come into my life personally for my son. So why do I love nursing? Because I couldn't imagine my life as anything but, I couldn't dream of doing anything better, and because we nurses are the rocks of the community when others often don't even realize it! I love nursing because of everything it has given me: strength, confidence, education, and a feeling of really making a difference. And because I get to share my love with the world daily, while doing something I love." #ILoveNursing

"Happy nurses week to all my nursing friends! Over the past 16 years, I've been able to do many things as a nurse. And the beauty of my chosen profession is just that: I can choose to go into whatever area I want. Nursing is so diverse. I chose to specialize in Labor and Delivery because there is nothing like seeing a new father cry as his child is coming into the world. Or the exchange of looks between a husband and his wife just moments after the birth of their first child. Having the opportunity to be a part of my mom's and dad's deliveries is such an honor. One that is never to be taken for granted. And when the outcome isn't a happy one, I give my moms and dads the exact same care as any other family. And I feel even more honored to be a part of their special delivery." #ILoveNursing
