1. Plan Ahead
Returning to work after vacation can definitely be stressful, so make sure to plan ahead. Return home a day before you have to go back to work so you can relax at home as well. Traveling home can be just as exhausting as the week away.
2. Get Organized
Being able to organize your house and prepare for work with time to relax at home will make the transition easier. Start your laundry, go grocery shopping, or clean your house so during the work week it is not overwhelming to catch up on housework.
3. Bring Some of Your Vacation Home With You
Take some of the culture of where you vacationed home with you. If you went to another country, learn a new recipe or bring home a souvenir that reminds you of your time away. If you go away close to home, learn a new trade that you can try at home or bring home something special from the area. Every location has a special something that will remind you of your vacation. Continue to enjoy your vacation at home as well!
4. Focus When You Return to Work
When you return to work, make sure you focus on getting everything that needs to be caught up on or needs your attention right away. Creating a priority list of when things need to be done will help to keep you focused and complete your work on time.
5. Know When You Need A Break
As stressful as it can be to catch up at work, you still have to take a break at work. If you are starting to feel overwhelmed, take a short break to refocus and make everything you are doing more productive.
6. Remember Others Can Do Your Job
Feeling like you are the only person who can do your job can cause unnecessary stress. Remind yourself to reach out to others to help with tasks or to finish the project you might have started before you left. Everything will get done.
7. Interact and Engage with Your Colleagues
Don’t forget you’re part of a team! Reach out to your colleagues if you need help catching up on work. Having friends at the office will help you build trust with your co-workers. It’s also always great to be able to return to work and be able to share your vacation stories with friends.
