Eight years ago, Lori Taggart came across an online job opening at CoreMedical Group. She had already been recruiting for three years and was ready to make the change to a new company. After learning more about Core, the job, and the benefits – including the Club CoreMed incentive trip – she knew this was going to be a great fit.
“I remember saying to my brother – I’m going to win a free trip at this new job,” Lori said. “He thought I was crazy, but I’ve gone on the Club CoreMed trip seven times now! I love it!”
Lori joined CoreMedical Group as a Travel Nursing Recruiter, was promoted to a Team Leader role after four years, and is now the Recruiting Manager of the Travel Nursing division. She currently oversees a team of close to twenty recruiters who help travel nurses find jobs across the country.
“Lori’s no-nonsense approach to recruiting was quickly recognized by staff and management,” explains Aram Hampoian, Vice President of Healthcare Travel Services. “As she is growing into leadership, we believe the qualities that helped her become a successful recruiter will show through into her management career.”
Part of what has made Lori successful is her ability to connect with people. One of her main responsibilities as a manager is to mentor and guide new recruiters, who have graduated from the CoreUniversity training program. Mentoring those new recruiters is one of her favorite parts of the job.
“Recruiting is all about building relationships. When I was starting as a recruiter, I loved getting to know my nurses and building strong relationships with them. Now I transfer that relationship building to my team. I love coaching people to get to the next level, like a fitness coach would.”
After eight years at Core, Lori is still excited to come to work every day. The supportive environment, the fun office, and the people make Core stand out from her past jobs. Whether it’s a contest in her division, a company-wide party, or just joking among peers, there’s always something fun going on.
“The people really do make the difference. It’s such a supportive place, from the very top on down to the person in the trenches next to you every day. I’ve gotten so much support from our President and Vice President and other managers. And to me, to see my recruiters help each other and problem solve together, that’s what it’s all about. Your day-to-day peers are there for you.”
Lori isn’t the first, or the last, recruiter to be promoted to management level positions at CoreMedical Group. The opportunity to grow within the company and provide support to newer employees is an integral piece of the Core culture.
Lori’s advice for Core employees who are just getting started is simple. “Be patient. Recruiting is consistent, persistent, and you need to have the right attitude. You have to be patient and let things unfold. You’re capable of a lot more than you think.”
